A Local Guide To Small Business Saturday

Happy Thanksgiving Week! Our family has a few Thanksgiving traditions — we watch the Macy’s parade, the dog show, and have dinner at the same time every year. One of our most recent traditions is Black Friday (and Small Business Saturday) shopping! The ladies in our family put on our tackiest Christmas sweaters and load up to hunt for some good bargains.

This weekend, I went to a few local businesses to see what they have in store! So many times we get caught up in the big doorbuster sales at large department stores that we forget our small business owners carry great deals too. I wanted to make a post showcasing some super cute potential gift ideas for anyone in your family at reasonable prices.

I put together these three outfits at Dion’s in Hindman!

Dion’s carries Simply Southern, MudPie, and other name brand boutique items. Their deals are yet to be announced, however I can tell you that they will be putting brand new items out on the floor Friday and having great deals all throughout the store! A few sales will only be Friday, but many will run Tuesday-Friday.

Ruth & Company

I tried on these pieces at Ruth & Co.!

I purchased the blue and green blouses, and I totally will be getting the red and white later. The white sherpa crewneck is the most comfortable thing I have ever tried on (and it has pockets)! Ruth & Co. will be having amazing deals on Black Friday, but if you miss the Black Friday sale, you can always use my ambassador code “CALLIE” for 15% off your purchase!

NU2U is a consignment store where you will find a gift for any person on your list! They have a variety of stocking stuffers — Natural Life, Lilly Pulitzer, bath bombs, locally made candles — along with larger gifts such as furniture sets, statement clothing pieces, and secondhand brand name items.

Appalachian Apparel Company and The 606

Appalachian Apparel Company is a locally owned and operated t-shirt company located on Main Street in Hazard. Inside the store is also a coffee shop where a sweet barista made me an excellent pumpkin spice latte! The 606 plans on being open Small Business Saturday, and Appalachian Apparel Company will be having deals on both Friday and Saturday.

Of course, there are plenty of other local businesses that deserve attention too! I wish I had the time to make it to all of them. My family likes to go late Thanksgiving night to the shops in downtown Prestonsburg. Wildfire Designs and Daffodils always offer great specials!

If you or a small business owner you know would like to collaborate on a post, please let me know! Til then — happy shopping and happy Thanksgiving!
