Get to Know Me, Happy Holidays

Happy New Year!

How lucky am I to say that another year has passed? I’m a little late on posting this, but to be honest I’ve not had the time to sit down and write (for about a month, actually)!

Every year I like to reflect on the past 365 days with gratitude, regardless of what has happened. And believe me, a lot has happened. It’s so crazy to think what changes 365 days can bring you — even in 3 hours, 6 minutes, or 5 seconds you can make a decision that completely alters the path for your life.

But, I have always believed that during any given moment, you are exactly where you are meant to be.

2018 was a rollercoaster. It’s so easy to look back on the year and dwell on all of the dark times, but it’s so important to remember that even then there was light. Last year, I graduated from high school and completed my first semester of college. I created new friendships and said bittersweet goodbyes to old ones. Most importantly, in 2018, I was able to discover who I am, who I’m not, and who I want to be.

Who I am is a girl that is holding the world in her hands. I am prone to wonder and to wander. I am girl who knows she was created for a purpose much larger than herself. A girl who lives to love and loves to serve. Who I am is a curious girl with goals and ambition and a passion for learning. I am informed, opinionated, and outspoken. I am a girl who is strong, self-assured, and confident. I am someone who believes life is one big adventure and I hope that I don’t miss a thing.

Who I’m not is a person’s idea, or concept, of what I should be — I am only myself. I am not weak, quieted, or controlled. Who I’m not is someone that has a chip on their shoulder and radiates anger, stress, and drama. I’m not a person who will live in a state of unhappiness.

Who I want to be is the woman described in Proverbs 31. A woman who is rare, trustworthy, and wise. A woman who balances time well so that she can serve others, succeed in her job, and provide for her family. A woman who knows that beauty and charm are temporary, yet being a child of God is eternal. Who I want to be is a woman who is always working to improve herself. I want to be a goal setter and a dream chaser.

And speaking of such, I have a few goals for this year for A Tapestry of Me.

One of my most important goals is to read at least one book each month, which is a lot given that I currently read approximately zero books each month. I am working on book #1 and when I finish, I will share my review here on A Tapestry of Me! I would like to start a book club here on the blog, similar to Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club x Hello Sunshine.

Another goal is to try my hand at vlogging! I’ve always been told that I am a very animated person, so I feel like vlogging would be up my alley. However, I am a horrible storyteller… so I’m not quite sure. Stay tuned to see how that goes.

When I started this blog in June, I couldn’t have imagined reaching over 10,000 views from 30+ countries — but I did. And I thank you. I thank each and every person who has read my thoughts, shared them with others, and encouraged me along the way. This adventure has been so much fun, and I’m only getting started!

Happy New Year to you. I hope it’s the most beautiful one yet.
